Although I'm just beginning my career as a freelance editor, I have been writing and editing my own work and the work of others for many years. I have a degree in communications and professional writing, and I love to help others make their writing the best that it can be, to help them express their stories in their unique voices.

I believe the most important thing for a successful editor-author relationship is communication. Therefore, below you will find an explanation of the services I offer, including what you should expect from me throughout the editing process.

GENERAL INFORMATION

I will need to do an initial review of your manuscript prior to accepting it. I'm happy to sign a non-disclosure agreement, but you will need to provide the form.
If I feel like your work is not ready for line editing, I may suggest you start with developmental editing or a rewrite.
If I accept your work, I will require a 50% deposit prior to beginning.
I will use Microsoft Word Track Changes to edit your work. It will be up to you to accept/reject those changes.
I am open to editing most types of writing and genres, but will not accept anything with graphic/explicit sexual content. If I'm not the right person to edit your work, I will be honest in telling you so.

DEVELOPMENTAL EDITING

For fiction, developmental editing examines plot, characters, structure, pacing, etc. For non-fiction, it examines voice, clarity and structure. This type of editing will focus on critiquing the content; I will read your manuscript and make suggestions for improvement or brainstorming.

Price: $0.02 per word (50% deposit)

When finished, I'll send you an editorial letter explaining any suggestions or issues in need of further development. We can also have a follow-up email conversation to discuss any questions you may have.

LINE EDITING

Detailed editing of a manuscript--line by line. Addresses issues such as phrasing, word choice, and syntax on the sentence level.
